Volunteer

Our volunteer programme, Spare Parts, is a vibrant and vital piece of the Spare Tyre vehicle.

Our volunteers provide the company with dedicated and essential support. They bring with them fresh ideas and points of view.

In return we follow our company-wide mantra of train, mentor, progress. Our volunteers receive practical experience, mentoring from our highly-trained artists and admin staff, and find progression routes to paid work.

All our volunteers need to undergo a CRB check.
We reimburse expenses.

We are currently looking for Project Volunteers and Admin Volunteer.
Our Project Volunteers assist our artists during workshops. Commitment can vary depending on the nature of the project but is usually one day a week for up to 12 weeks. Admin Volunteers assist in the office with administration such as monitoring data, database upkeep and marketing.  Commitment is negotiable but is often 1 day a week for up to 8 weeks.

We also occasionally need Production Volunteers and Design Volunteers to work on shows. To find out more about any of these roles click here to download our Volunteer Pack, call 020 7061 6454 or email us.

Placements

We often take on people on placement from University and college who want to gain valuable experience working in a busy participatory arts company.  Placements are normally with us for between 2-6 months working between 2-5 days per week.  People on placement with us may mainly work in the office, or they may mainly work in workshops and on projects and shows.  But we make sure each person on placement sees all areas of the company.  Sometimes when we have an opportunity at a time that doesn't fit in with university or college schedules, we organise our own work placements which we advertise for.

You can hear about the experiences of our previous placement by clicking below:

Internships

As a small but dynamic company we are able to offer Internships that are meaningful, and enable those that undertake them to gain skills and create a lasting impact on the company. Our Internships usually fall into two categories, administrative and artistic, but we give all our interns a rounded experience across the company.

We offer 4 bursaries per year to financially support people undergoing our Internships. These Internships will be advertised as they become available through our website and newsletter.
