The Roehampton Radio Roadshow took place on the Roehampton Estate (Alton Estate) on Wednesday 15th October, as the local community gathered to celebrate and share their stories, poetry, music selections and discussions.

The Mayor of Wandsworth officially opened the roadshow, sharing his desert island discs with passers by, shortly followed by Councillor Ravi Govindia, Leader of Wandsworth Council who opened a photography exhibition entitled ‘What’s Your Roehampton?’. The exhibition displayed creative and honest images taken by people who live and work on the estate. We were also delighted to be joined by Justine Greening MP and Councillor Sue McKinney who also contributed to radio discussions.

At Spare Tyre, we have been engaging with the local community in Wandsworth and on the Roehampton Estate for the past 3 years. During this time, we identified that people who live here wanted to have their voices heard, a place to share their concerns, ideas and creativity. As a result of this, we initiated Roehampton Radio to provide a platform for this to happen.
