Interactive storytelling for people with dementia and the staff who support them

This work has the ability to change the culture of how we work with people with dementia. - Head of Activities, Nightingale House

NOW BOOKING for Autumn 2012

Once Upon a Time is a new way of engaging people with dementia.  We use a person centred approach and give your clients a sense of choice and expression.

Click here to find out more about how the programme was developed.

Method

Through the telling of a story, our highly-skilled artists create an interactive environment. Projection, light, taste, touch, sound and smell are all used to create a moment of shared joy that will inspire the imaginations of your clients.

The Package

Spare Tyre artists will visit your centre 1 day a week for 3 consecutive weeks. Each day we will deliver a Once Upon a Time interactive storytelling session in the morning for 6 clients and in the afternoon for 6 clients. Our artists will fully brief your
staff before the first session and provide a de-brief after each session.  To find out about costs please call 020 7061 6454 or email Vicky.

Testimony

Once Upon a Time was piloted at Nightingale House, Wandsworth in 2010. The programme was highly successful and clear evidence of progress was seen in the clients we worked with, including physical and verbal responses.
Spare Tyre’s Once Upon a Time reaches the often forgotten residents – the frailest older people with dementia. - Alastair Addison Head of Activities, Nightingale House
