It’s that moment when the jigsaw pieces slot into each other–d-day – when it all falls into place or I find a corner in the dark theatre, sit down, hold my head in my hands and try not to cry. The sound, the set, the costumes, the lighting, professionals and volunteers working side by side, our older performers bracing themselves.

It’s been months of work to get to this moment. Its only our 40th Birthday celebrations, so no big deal really…

I usually get there early and annoy everyone as I say: ooh I’m not sure it should go there, ohh that doesn’t look right, surely that needs painting.  So I decided to go in later, took in a box of chocs for the creative and production teams. They are very easily pleased.  I enter: everyone was beavering away. Need to keep my mouth SHUT. It’s looking good. Oh no think set needs adjustment, best speak to production manager…it gets moved. Made sound decisions, AV decisions. Right let’s just do this. Show time!
