Two women a week are murdered by a partner or ex-partner in the UK. From 2023 we are developing a new four year programme co-designed by and to support women with experience of violence or abuse, or fleeing conflict zones, led by practitioners from those communities.
Creativity is very valuable for women in recovery in getting the abuser’s voice out of their heads. The creative element opens up a pathway into another form of recovery other interventions don't offer.
Solace Women's Aid
Since 2015, we have partnered with Solace Women's Aid to run creative wellbeing projects that support the recovery of women with experience of violence or abuse.
This work has become especially vital since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. Following support from the Culture Recovery Fund in 2021, we are now planning four more years of work with intersectional women's groups.
Taking place in specialist centres and safe online spaces and led by experienced facilitators, these projects will include storytelling, dance, visual arts and creative activities matched to participant’s interests. They will allow women, through artistic expression, to take charge of the stories that have changed their lives.
