Support Spare Tyre's work in improving the lives of people living with dementias and their carers with this match-funded fundraising campaign.
I can’t emphasize this enough – without Spare Tyre we would not get this immersive interaction nor would our service users be able to experience this sort of artistic experience anywhere else

Arts for Impact
We are thrilled to have been chosen to be part of this campaign as each donation makes double the difference, due to the match funding supported by the New Philanthropy for Arts & Culture (NPAC). Every donation received will go into supporting our current tour of On the Beach–a sensory show for older people living with dementias and their carers.
Situation
In England around 676,000 people are living with dementia, most of them aged over 65 (NHS England); the estimated number of carers of people with dementia in England is 540,000 (NHS England). The proven role of creativity in promoting wellbeing and health for career and recipients of care should mean that all care settings offer high quality, regular arts and culture, but this is not the case, often due to budget constraints and lack of access to creative opportunities.
Solution
On The Beach aims to inspire, stimulate and support vulnerable people with dementia and their carers. We will:
- Provide a high-quality creative experience for 500 people living with dementia and their carers, and offer a moment of respite and connection for them
- Offer training for up to 40 care staff to support them to incorporate creative activities in their daily practice, plus training in inclusive sensory practice for artists from the local area.
What can you do?
Every penny and pound in this campaign will be doubled so this is a fantastic way to support our work and increase awareness about the role of creativity and wellbeing for people with dementia and their carers. From midday on Tuesday 19th March, please donate what you can spare, and share our campaign with your friends, family, colleagues, neighbours.
So put a reminder in your calendar and an alarm on your phone for the Arts for Impact week!
UPDATE:
Thank you for all your donations! We're thrilled to let you know that we exceeded our target and made £5,071 at the end of a very busy campaigning week. We'll be putting those funds to use supporting people living with dementia and their carers, during our On the Beach tour for the next few months.
