In light of the recent Supreme Court statement and other statements, guidance and policies issued following it, the Spare Tyre team and trustees wish to confirm:

“Spare Tyre will continue to assert everyone’s right to self-identify. We will always respect everyone’s pronouns and presentation, and do everything we can to promote and protect queer, trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming team members’, freelances’ and volunteers’ dignity at work, or whilst on tour with us. We will do this proactively but also led by each individual * Alongside, we will advocate– where we can–for their right to go about daily life safely and happily.”

Spare Tyre is and always has been an intersectionally-feminist company. If you want to understand more about the potential and actual negative impacts of the Supreme Court Judgement for all female-identifying or gender non-conforming people, please read the blog by Crin Claxton here.

*In creating this statement, we have consulted with our known queer, trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming colleagues in the spirit of “nothing about us without us”.
