Connecting with residents of Roehampton, Wandsworth, to explore the colourful history of Georgian-built Roehampton House and Grove House, and the surrounding area.
Over The Road focuses on diverse histories, untold stories and the role played by ‘hidden’ historical women in the area, engaging with the local community through a range of creative activities.
Join Spare Tyre as we reveal stories of remarkable women of Roehampton from the 18th Century to present day. Over The Road is a heritage project where you get to touch historical objects, hear stories from the past, and create writing and artwork inspired by amazing women who lived or worked in the area of Roehampton. From Lady Caroline Lamb and her affair with Lord Byron, to nuns who changed the lives of the local poor, Over The Road will chart these important local stories in the heart of Roehampton where it actually happened.
Over The Road builds on Spare Tyre’s five years of working with residents in the Roehampton area.
Over The Road has been funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
