Spare Tyre are delighted to take part in the Big Give Christmas Campaign, fundraising for our creative programme, Chronically Creative.

Chronically Creative is a safe space where I feel understood without having to explain. It’s helped me rest, reflect, and rediscover creativity in new ways

This year, we’re delighted to be taking part in the Big Give’s Christmas Challenge! We’re raising funds for our online creative programme – Chronically Creative.

Originally called Covid Cafe, the sessions were set up in 2022 by Artistic Director & co-CEO, Rebecca Manson Jones, after she realised that her Long Covid was a permanent feature of her life. As the world was opening back up after the pandemic, Rebecca and many others with chronic health conditions, were still trapped inside and unable to access physical spaces.

The creative cafe–now called Chronically Creative to reflect the multitude of chronic conditions, not just Long Covid, that participants had – has evolved and become a regular fixture on many people's calendars.

Since 2022, we have been able to run 38 online sessions and welcomed 277 participants.  The uncertainty of future funding means we can only schedule sessions every 4 – 6 weeks. For some of the participants who attend, these sessions are often the only connection with others they experience.

With your donation, you can help support people are isolated and alone, to connect with others, express themselves creatively. Funds will go directly to the cost running each session, including fees for the lived-experience facilitators and access support workers who run the sessions – Laura and Monique, Lara and Sophie.

The session really made me consider why I am aiming so high to achieve things I cannot physically do (like climb mountains) and therefore am missing out on the things I possibly can achieve ! So it motivated me the very next morning to drive to a carpark ‘almost’ at the top of a mountain to watch the sunrise. I can’t tell you how much joy this gave me, I cried happy tears at the top and have carried the warmest of glows with me all that day and beyond

Every donation is doubled so your support is even more important. If you can't spare a donation, then please help us share our campaign–friends, family, neighbours, colleagues. Help us raise funds and awareness for our project.

Between 2nd–9th December, head to our campaign page to donate!
